Forged is the a new book for the series The World of Nightwalkers by Jacquelyn Frank,  scheduled for April 29, 2014  a series still unpublished in Italy.
Thanks to Netgalley and the Random House Publishing Group-Ballantine for the kind preview of the book.

When Katrina Haynes discovers a large man lying wounded in the snow, she fears he is at death’s door. But as Kat tends to his injuries, she quickly realizes that they’re the least of her worries. With an irresistible Scottish brogue and a strange ability to harden his chiseled body like a statue, the stranger awakens a desire she is unable to resist—and a fascination about the intriguing world he exists in.
As a proud Gargoyle, Ahnvil must safeguard the Nightwalker to whom he’s sworn fealty. But as this bewitching woman nurses him back to health, arousing an almost uncontrollable hunger within him, he is possessed with the fierce impulse to protect her as well. And he will have to shield her—for by coming to his rescue, Kat has placed herself in the middle of a supernatural war . . . and exposed herself to dark, powerful magic. As human and Gargoyle forge an unbreakable bond, Kat will discover that despite his intimidating strength and size, one thing Ahnvil does not possess is a heart of stone.

Trust pays back always, and how if it pays! This is the fourth book in this series The World of Nightwalkers and I fell in love with the male protagonist, Ahnvil, I adored Kat, the heroine of the book and I was completely satisfied by the story.
Believe me I pulled a real sigh of relief ... When you love a writer and you remain disappointed, as was I from previous books, your hands shook a little is when you are about to start reading a new chapter in the series and if I must put it right through the book's been there quite a while to wait.
Ahnvil? Let's talk about him, this Gargoyle who embodies everything that I love in a male character. Damn sexy thanks to his perfect physique and his strong Scottish brogue; this is the first time that I get the urge to try to listen to an audio-book. He is proud, very protective and full of attentions towards Kat. When she tells him: "everything  is well", he knows what lies behind this phrase of circumstance and he push her until she tells him the truth. As well as once he discovered the attraction she feels for him, he loves to taunt her  in every way and given they are isolated in Kat's house because of a blizzard and the fact that he needs to be taken care of, let us say that the occasions to show off his beautiful body are a lot... A game of seduction that sometimes, thanks to the two protagonists, it is also very fun to read.
Kat is human and pentite compared to the Gargoyle, but she knows how to get respect.
In this book we find even Bella and Jacob, one of the most beautiful couples in the previous Nightwalkers series, the demon and his partner half human and half  Druid. They Are going through a stressful time, like many couples, after the birthes of two sons, which made me smile because it's a very human situation ... solution? A great vacation, a second honeymoon, childless. Of course there are good intentions, but things don't go exactly as planned.
In fact, this is the opportunity that the author takes to bring together for the first time Nightwalkers breeds that are unaware of the existence of each other. A spell has separated the twelve Nations of these creatures, with many species, dividing in two groups of six. According to an ancient prophecy to defeat the terrible enemy of the Bodywalkers, the God Daemon Apep, which is a threat for all, the Nightwalkers must come together and fight.
The book is very focused on the story between Ahnvil and Kat, but it opens scenarios that I believe will lead to a profound change in this series.
Jackson/Menes, the powerful Pharaoh Bodywalkers' leader, this time is relegated to a secondary role, but I have to say that his exchanges with Ahnvil are very cute and funny.
This time promoted with flying colors the author, she puts the cherry on the top by wearing a kilt  to  Ahnvil ...

RATED 4.5 stars
