Anteprima: To Sin with a Viking by Michelle Willingham

This time thanks this historical romance book I found myself in the world of the Vikings, or rather in the story borned between a Viking and Irish woman, in the beginning everything didn't start under the best auspices.

Playing With Fire!
Caragh Ó Brannon defended herself bravely when the enemy landed—only, now she finds herself alone with one very angry Viking…
Styr Hardrata sailed to Ireland intending to trade, never expecting to find himself held captive in chains by a beautiful Irish maiden.
The fiercely handsome warrior both terrifies and allures Caragh, but he is forbidden territory. He is the enemy…and he is married. Yet Styr harbors a secret that just might set them both free…

It's a nice story, told in a book that you read very quickly.
The situation arises between the two main characters is a bit paradoxical, but the despair, the deprivations that have undergone Caragh and recklessness of the younger brother's actions have forced the girl to act in a dangerous and brave way, taking Styr as a prisoner.
As a character I really liked how it was characterized Caragh, a strong woman with a great dignity, but also very gentle and humane soul.
Styr is an amazing character too, very real, torn between duty and honor that bind him to his wife, in spite of the big problems they have as a couple and the fact their marriage isn't about love, but of mutual interest, as it was common at that time. I found the mentality of Styr quite modern compared to the historical period in which the book was set, he just thinks about the divorce from his wife, because of her unhappiness an it is an unusual point of view. In a sense, we found in this story a topic very common for our times: the problems that arise in a pair when dealing with the disappointment and the bitterness of not being able to have children.
Since the beginning of the book the author had made it clear with her introduction that she wanted to go beyond the bond of marriage between Styr and his wife and see what would happen in their lives, making a drastic change.
At this point I can't wait to read the second book of this series and see how it will finish the story.
A little note: the viking on the cover reminds me Viggo Mortensen.
Thanks to Netgalley and Harlequin for the preview.
