Untamed by Anna Cowan

Untamed, il libro che non ti aspetti. Il titolo è abbastanza comune, soprattutto nel libri romance di ogni genere; molti personaggi, sia maschili che femminili, protagonisti vengono  descritti con questa parola. Invece mi sono ritrovata immersa nella lettura di un regency totalmente al di fuori degli schemi, sia per la sua trama che per i suoi personaggi, oserei dire meravigliosi.

Katherine Sutherland è una donna schietta e caparbia, difficilmente a suo agio tra le dame raffinate dell'Alta Società londinese. Ha più familiarità con i contadini e le sue opinioni espresse senza peli sulla lingua, in modo piuttosto brutale, offendono la società ben abituata a raffinatezza ed eleganza. Ma quando arrivano alle sue orecchie scandalosi pettegolezzi che coinvolgono la sorella e l'affascinante Duca di Darlington, la leale Katherine giura solennemente di salvare a tutti i costi il matrimonio della sorella.

Il manipolativo Duca rimane ben presto affascinato e intrigato dall'interferenza di Katherine nei suoi affari.  Coinvolto in un ardito tentativo di imbroglio a Londra, l'uomo la segue, quando Katherine fa ritorno nella sua casa nel bel mezzo della campagna inglese. Tra i due si instaura un legame che lascia entrambi sorpresi. Ma i giochi del Duca hanno delle conseguenze pericolose che potrebbero rovinare le loro vite.

La sinossi è a sua volta abbastanza comune, ma vi assicuro che la storia che si cela dietro il rapporto così speciale  che si instaura tra Kit/Katherine e il Duca di Darlington/Jude è tutt'altra. Il loro passato nasconde segreti ed episodi oscuri che ha segnato profondamente sia Jude che l'intera familia di Katherine.

Lei è coraggiosa, generosa, la nemesi di Rossella O'Hara, una roccia solida disposta a tutto per il bene della sua famiglia e a cui loro si appoggiano per andare avanti. Dire che è brutale nella sua spontaneità e nel suo essere sincera e diretta è un eufemismo.

Jude potrebbe sembrare un'antieroe paragonato ai soliti personaggi maschili dei regency, ma il suo fascino è proprio questo. Ambiguo, fragile e crudele, uomini e donne subiscono il suo fascino e lui consapevole del suo potere e delle sue capacità non esita a utilizzare il tutto per raggiungere i suoi scopi. Ma con Kit nasce un rapporto particolare, ne è attratto come una falena lo è dalla luce e si rende conto che lei è l'unica persona che potrebbe aiutarlo ad abbattere il muro che ha costruito intorno a sé per difendersi.

Tutti i personaggi di questo libro si inseriscono perfettamente nello schema delle cose per dare origine a un racconto unico, a volte divertente, a volte triste, con personaggi che ti entrano nel cuore.

Anche su Lydia, la sorella di Kit, che all'inizio trovavo insopportabile, mi sono dovuta ricredere. BenRuin suo marito è un omone dal cuore d'oro, a cui non si può che voler bene.

E vogliamo parlare del piccolo Porkie? Il maialino salvato dal Duca che diventa il suo animale da compagnia coccolato e vezzeggiato, con tanto di collarini, quinzagli e giacchette da indossare per fare pendant col suo amato padrone...

Bellissima storia, veramente.

Untamed, the book you do not expect. The title is fairly common, especially in romance books of every kind, several characters, both male and female, are described with that Word. Instead I found myself immersed in reading a regency totally outside of schemes, for both its plot and its characters, I daresay amazing.

Outspoken and opinionated, Katherine Sutherland is ill at ease amongst the fine ladies of Regency London. She is more familiar with farmers and her blunt opinions and rough manners offend polite society. Yet when she hears the scandalous rumours involving her sister and the seductive Duke of Darlington, the fiercely loyal Katherine vows to save her sister's marriage – whatever the cost.

Intrigued by Katherine's interference in his affairs, the manipulative Duke is soon fascinated. He engages in a daring deception and follows her back to her country home. Here, their intense connection shocks them both. But the Duke's games have dangerous consequences, and the potential to throw both their lives into chaos…

 The synopsis is also quite common, but I assure you that the story behind the relationship so special that is established between Kit/Katherine and the Duke of Darlington/Jude is quite another. Their past hides dark secrets and episodes that marked deeply both Jude that the entire family of Katherine.

She is courageous, generous, the nemesis of Scarlett O'Hara, a rock solid who would make everything for the sake of her family and to which they are to go ahead. We can say that calling rough her brutal spontaneity and her being sincere and direct is an understatement.

Jude might seem an antihero compared to the usual male characters of the regency, but his appeal is just that. Ambiguous, fragile and cruel, men and women are charmed by this man and he is aware of his power and his ability and he does not hesitate to use everything to achieve his goals. But with this special bond with Kit, he's drawn like a moth is from the light and he realizes that she is the only person who could help him to break down the wall that he has built around him to defend himself.

All the characters in this book fit perfectly in the scheme of things to give rise to a unique tale, sometimes funny, sometimes sad, with characters break through your heart.

Also on Lydia, the sister of Kit, which at the beginning was unbearable, I had to change my mind. BenRuin her husband is a big man with a heart of gold, one can only love him.

And we want to talk about the small Porkie? The piglet saved from Duke who becomes his pet pampered and fondled with ribs, leashes and blazers to wear to match with his beloved master clothes...

Beautiful story, really.

È il primo libro romance ambientato in una comunità Amish che leggo e devo dire che mi è piaciuto molto. Mi ha sempre affascinato la loro concezione di vita, che è molto diversa dalla mia e in ogni aspetto, così quando ho letto la trama del libro mi sono detta: perché no?
È una storia molto bella e romantica, con due protagonisti che mi sono piaciuti molto.

L'amore è distante solo una lettera. Cosa potrebbe succedere allora a Joann Yoder, la zitella della comunità Amish? Lei è felice di essere una single. E nel frattempo lavora duramente per riuscire finalmente a comperare la casa dei suoi sogni. I problemi nascono quando viene licenziata per fare posto al nipote del suo capo, Roman Weaver. A parte i suoi bei occhi blu, Joann non lo può proprio sopportare! L'unica cosa buona nella sua vita, che la aiuta ad affrontare il momento di difficoltà sono le lettere che in segreto sta scambiando con un uomo misterioso. Ma chi le sta scrivendo queste lettere? Ed è possibile per lei innamorarsi di lui anche nella vita reale?

Joann è una ragazza molto decisa e le sue idee sono un po' differenti dal normale comportamento di qualsiasi altra donna della sua comunità. Ha uno spirito combattivo invidiabile e mi sono divertita un sacco nel leggere le sue reazioni a caldo, alle volte un po' impulsive.
Roman è un bel personaggio maschile, soprattutto per come reagisce di fronte all'incidente che lo ha colpito.
Ho amato molto le lettere che si scrivevano l'un l'altra segretamente, senza sapere chi era l'amico di penna che le avrebbe poi lette. Molto dolce e romantico.
Nella sua semplicità questa storia mi è piaciuta molto, anche per come descrive la vita degli Amish nei vari momenti della loro vita di comunità e le loro abitudini. Sembra di fare un tuffo nel passato, ma in realtà loro vivono realmente così nel 2013.
Una meraviglia assoluta!

This is the first book romance set in an Amish community that I read and I must say that I really liked it. I have always been fascinated by their conception of life, which is very different from mine in everything, so when I read the plot of the book, I said to myself: why not?
It's a very beautiful and romantic story, with two characters that I liked a lot.

Love Is Only A Letter AwaySo what if Joann Yoder's Amish community deems her a spinster? She's content to stay single. In the meantime, she's working hard to finally buy her dream house. So it's problematic when she's fired from her job to make room for the owner's nephew, Roman Weaver. His blue eyes aside, she simply can't stand him! Good thing she has the secret letters she's been exchanging with a mystery man to keep her going. But who is writing her letters? And could she possibly fall for him in real life, too?

Joann is a very determined girl, even if her ideas are a bit different from the normal behavior of any other woman of her community. She has a fighting spirit and I enjoyed a lot reading her reactions and her sharp tongue, a little impulsive at times.
Roman is a handsome male character, especially for how he reacts to the incident that hit him.
And I loved a lot the letters they wrote to each other in secret, without knowing who was the penpal reading the letter. Very sweet and romantic.
For its simplicity,  I liked this story, even as it describes the lives of the Amish in various points of their community life and their habits. It seems to take a look in the past, but in reality their lives really so in 2013.

Wicked as She Wants by Delilah S. Dawson

Molto carino, insolito e divertente da leggere questo secondo libro della serie Blud, di cui non avevo letto il primo, ma si possono leggere separatamente, visto che i protagonisti dei diversi racconti sono differenti. Wicked as She Wants è uno strano mix tra paranormal romance e steampunk. Una realtà parallela alla Terra, dove però ci sono dei passaggi che possono mettere in comunicazione i due mondi e a parte i nomi delle città che sono uguali, si possono ritrovare delle similitudini o richiami per quanto riguarda l'arte, la musica, ecc...

Quando la principessa Ahnastasia si risveglia, prosciugata e colpita da un'intensa brama di sangue,rinchiusa all'interno di una valigia, non sa cosa la attragga di più, la melodia della musica che sente suonare o il profumo del sangue. La fonte di entrambe queste sensazioni è un bellissimo uomo misterioso che si chiama Casper Sterling. Una volta era osannato come il più famoso musicista di Londra, a Sangland, ma adesso sta attraversando un grosso periodo di difficoltà. Con grande frustrazione per Ahna, l'uomo dissoluto e scontante è la sua sola possibilità per fare ritorno nel suo regno, nelle terre perennemente innevate e magiche di Freesia.

Sotto la guida dello scontroso Casper e della litigiosa orfana Keen, Ahna riesce a trovare un passaggio verso la sua terra natale, dove una maga assetata di potere, di nome Ravenna, tiene in suo potere la famiglia reale. Viaggiando attraverso i vicoli angusti di Londra fino ai minareti della sfavillante Mosca Ahna scopre che in Freesia l'attendono nuovi nemici e pericoli. Tornata nel suo Paese, è costretta a scegliere tra quello che le dice il suo cuore, che non sapeva nemmeno di avere, e la terra sulla quale è destinata a regnare. Ma con l'aiuto di Casper, forse, Ahna potrà scegliere entrambi.

Vampiri, o meglio Bludwoman e Bludman, che trattano gli umani come esseri inferiori, schiavi e servi in Freesia. Umani che in Sangland, convivono con magia e botteghe dell'occulto, ma disprezzano i vampiri e potendo li eliminerebbero dalla circolazione. Pirati e bordelli di lusso volanti; umani drogati e dipendenti dal Bloodwine, miscuglio di vino e sangue di vampiro, che conduce piano piano verso la perdita del proprio autocontrollo e sanità mentale; creature mitiche quali unicorni che non sono esattamente innocui come la tradizione ce li descrive, e così via.

Il mondo descritto nella Blud series è veramente unico, sorprendente e molto molto movimentato.

Ahna è un personaggio inizialmente capriccioso, altezzoso, divertente nella sua insopportabilità, dopotutto non deve essere facile per una principessa risvegliarsi chiusa in una valigia, al di fuori del suo amato regno, dove nessuno la tratta in modo appropriato per il suo rango. Ma nonostante questo suo inizio, che ti farebbe venire voglia di infilarle un paletto nel cuore, nel corso della sua avventura matura, cresce, rivelando aspetti della sua persona insospettabili.

Casper, il maestro, il meraviglioso pianista, ha molti problemi che lo spingono verso l'autodistruzione, ma possiede un forte istinto protettivo per Keen, l'orfana pestifera che ha incontrato in passato, e anche per Ahna. Non è un uomo completamente perduto, il suo onore lo spinge ad aiutare la principessa insopportabile a ritrovare la via di casa. È misterioso, affascinante e nonostante sia un'artista, si può dire che sa affrontare prontamente le situazioni di pericolo.

Altro personaggio stupendo è anche la piccola Keen, è un personaggio di secondo piano, ma è fondamentale la sua presenza in questa storia sia per Casper che per Ahna.

Bel libro, ben scritto, con un ottimo ritmo e decisamente originale.

Very cute, unusual and funny to read this second book in the Blud series, I hadn't read the first one, but it can be read separately, as the protagonists of the several stories are different. Wicked as She Wants  is a strange mix of paranormal romance and steampunk. A reality parallel to our world, but there are portals that can connect the two worlds and aside from the names of the cities that are equal, you can find similarities or implies with regard to art, music, etc.

When Blue princess Ahnastasia wakes up, drained and starving in a suitcase, she’s not sure which calls to her more: the sound of music or the scent of blood. The source of both sensations is a handsome and mysterious man named Casper Sterling. Once the most celebrated musician in London, Sangland, he’s fallen on hard times. Now, much to Ahna’s frustration, the debauched and reckless human is her only ticket back home to the snow-rimmed and magical land of Freesia.

Together with Casper’s prickly charge, a scrappy orphan named Keen, they seek passage to Ahna’s homeland, where a power-hungry sorceress named Ravenna holds the royal family in thrall. Traveling from the back alleys of London to the sparkling minarets of Muscovy, Ahna discovers that Freesia holds new perils and dangerous foes. Back in her country, she is forced to choose between the heart she never knew she had and the land that she was born to rule. But with Casper’s help, Ahna may find a way to have it all…

Vampires, or rather Bludwoman and Bludman, who treat humans as inferior beings, slaves and servants in Freesia. Humans in Sangland, that coexist with magic and its dangerous shops, but despise the vampires and if they can they want murder them them.

 Pirates and flying luxury brothels; humans junkies with the Bloodwine, a mixture of wine and vampire's blood, which leads them to lost their self-control and sanity; mythical creatures such as Unicorns that are not exactly harmless as our tradition describes them, and so on.

The world described in the Blud series is truly unique, surprising and very very exciting.

Ahna is very capricious, initially a haughty character, funny in her unendurable, after all, it must not be easy for a Princess waking up locked in a suitcase, outside of her beloved reign where anyone acknowledge her rank. But despite the little thing that you would like to put a stake into her heart, in the course of her adventures, she grows up, revealing aspects of her that you don't expect.

Casper, the maestro, the wonderful pianist, has many problems that push him towards self-destruction, but he has a strong instinct of protection for Keen, the terrible orphan whom he met in the past, and also for Ahna. He isn't a man who completely lost his honor, and this pushes him to help the Princess to find her dangerous way to home. He is fascinating and mysterious and despite being an artist, you can tell he knows how to deal with dangerous situations promptly.

Another great character is the little Keen, she has a little part in the story,  but her presence is crucial  for Casper and Ahna.

Beautiful book, well written, with an excellent rhythm and downright original.

Delusa? Molto. Perplessa? Tanto. Ho faticato molto a portare a termine la lettura di questo secondo libro della nuova serie The World of Nightwalkers della Frank e mi è rimasto decisamente l'amaro in bocca, dopo l'entusiasmo che avevo vuoto nel riceverlo in anteprima.

Dopo essere stato riportato indietro dalla morte, l'ufficiale di polizia Jackson Waverly scopre una delle cose più traumatiche della sua vita: è diventato l'ospite di un Bodywalker, uno spirito che si reincarna in carne e ossa, e fa parte di un'antica, orgogliosa razza che utilizza le sue preziose capacità per lottare contro un'oscura battaglia contro le forze del male. Lo spirito presente in Jackson è uno di quelli dotati di più potere - non è altro che l'antico faraone egiziano Menes, che non vede l'ora di riunirsi al suo eterno amore, la regina egiziana Hatshepsut.

Mentre Menes è ossessionato dal pensiero di trovare l'ospite perfetto per la sua regina, Jackson non riesce a smettere di pensare alla Dsa Marissa Anderson, la bellissima psichiatra del distretto che continua a spingerlo a confrontarsi col dolore della perdita del componente del suo team, un vane di nome Chico. Ma quello che Marissa riesce a far nascere in Jackson è un intenso desiderio per lei, la cosa per cui Menes è alla ricerca. Per lottare contro il loro grande nemico il faraone e la sua regina si devono riunire; ma l'ospite di Hatsheput, Marissa, deve prima morire. Il destino mette Jackson davanti a una celata difficile: salvare Marissa dal piano di Menes o portare un'intera specie sull'orlo dell'estinzione.

Il libro è molto incentrato sulle figure di Menes, Jackson e Marissa, in quello che praticamente diventa quasi un ménage a trois, nonostante il professato amore eterno di Menes sia Hatshepsut. Queste è una delle cose che mi lascia perplessa, insieme al fatto che di questa fantomatica regina troviamo una breve apparizione nel finale, mentre essendo il libro anche di Menes mi sarei aspettato la loro riunione molto prima nel romanzo e finalmente vedere insieme questa coppia.

Altro argomento opinabile è secondo me la scelta della scrittrice di far compiere a Marissa un suicidio consapevole per poter far reicarnare Hatshepsut. Orribile, veramente, l'ho trovata una cosa un po' disturbante per i miei gusti e le mie idee.

Confronto al primo libro della serie ho trovato un netto calo in questo libro.

Non mi sono sentita coinvolta dai personaggi o dalla storia, cosa che in passato non mi è mai successa con la Frank.

Disappointed? A lot. Perplexed? For sure. I struggled a lot to complete reading this second book in the new series The World of Nightwalkers by Ms Frank and I remained with alitate bit of bitter taste in mouth, after the enthusiasm when I had receive book as a preview.

After being brought back from death, police officer Jackson Waverly receives the shock of his life: he has become host to a Bodywalker, a spirit that is reborn in flesh and blood, and part of a proud, ancient race that uses its extraordinary gifts to battle dark, evil forces. Jackson’s spirit is a powerful one—none other than the Egyptian pharaoh Menes, who longs to reunite with his eternal love, the Egyptian queen Hatshepsut.

While Menes is obsessed with finding the perfect vessel for his queen, Jackson cannot stop thinking about Dr. Marissa Anderson, the gorgeous precinct shrink who keeps pushing him to confront his grief over the loss of his K-9 partner. But what Marissa really arouses most in Jackson is intense desire, which is exactly what Menes is looking for. To fight a great enemy, pharaoh and queen must join; but to host Hatshepsut, Marissa will first have to die. Fate has given Jackson a profound choice: save Marissa from Menes’ plan or keep an entire species from the brink of extinction.

The book is very focused on Menes, Jackson and Marissa, in what almost becomes a ménage a trois, despite the professed eternal love of Menes for Hatshepsut. This is one of the things that leaves me perplexed, coupled with the fact that this mysterious Queen make a brief appearance in the final, while being the book of Menes I would expect their joining in the novel before the end of rhe story and finally see this couple together.

The other argument a little hard, in my opinion, is the choice of the writer to push Marissa to commit a conscious suicide so she can become Hatshepsut's vessel. Horrible, really, I found this thing a bit disturbing for my taste and my ideas.

Compared to the first book in the series I found a sharp decline in this book.

I didn't feel involved by the characters or the story, which in the past it never happened with Ms Frank.

Doppia recensione di Amyra: Beautiful Disaster e Walking Disaster by Jamie McGuire

Questa è la review congiunta di Beautiful Disaster e Walking Disaster, che ho letto nel giro di due giorni uno dopo l'altro e, beh, essendo basilarmente la stessa storia mi sembrava inutile scrivere due diverse recensioni.

Iniziamo col dire che ho preso in mano Beautiful Disaster perchè continuavo a vedere su Goodreads mie conoscenti/amiche che ne parlavano e mi ero incuriosita. Non mi aspettavo niente e ancora non sapevo che questo libro fosse l'ultimo "Twilight" della moda editoriale.

Abby è una brava ragazza che nasconde un segreto. Travis è un bad boy fatto e finito che si innamora di lei e per lei vuole essere una persona migliore.

Vi ricorda niente? Ebbene si, all'inizio anche io sono rimasta sconcertata dalle somiglianze con Tre metri sopra il cielo di Moccia, con sdolcinerie tipiche della Meyer, e ne sono rimasta un po' disgustata. Poi la storia va avanti e, holy shit, Abby ha due brass balls mica male. Primo, scopriamo che è una giocatrice di poker professionale, una leggenda (molto bad ass) che vuole riformarsi, e secondo ha il coraggio di lasciare il ragazzo che ama perchè, diciamocelo, è un bad boy, man-whore, ubriacone, con seri problemi di gelosia e possessivismo, e pure uno che combatte illegalmente. Io, per quanto affascinata dal personaggio nel mondo letterario, non mi metterei mai con uno così nella vita reale. Voi? Quindi no, non accetto le critiche su Abby, anzi la ammiro per la forza di volontà che la aiuta a prendere scelte che le spezzano letteralmente il cuore. Detto questo, non capisco assolutamente cosa Travis ci veda in lei.

Questa parte della trama in Walkind disaster è abbastanza noiosa, Travis è così assorbito dalle sue seghe mentali (scusate il termine) ops volevo dire dalle sue sofferenze interiori, che non capisce assolutamente Abby e la fa passare sulla carta come una bambinetta viziata. Povero lui, che stava cercando di cambiare. Certo però questo non gli impediva di scoparsi ogni donna facile che incontrava quando già sapeva di avere sentimenti per Abby. No, no Travis love here. Inoltre, quando ho preso in mano Walking Disaster, ancora non sapevo che fosse la stessa storia raccontata con un POV maschile, ma presupponevo che fosse il seguito, un "cosa succede dopo che...", quindi ne sono rimasta abbastanza delusa al momento. Ancora adesso continuo a pensare che questo libro sia ridondante, Travis è un personaggio affascinante ok, ma niente mi impedisce di pensare che Beautiful disaster fosse scritto meglio e con più abbondanza di particolari. Ma andiamo avanti.

Apprezzo comunque il desiderio di Travis di redimersi e di essere una persona migliore per Abby, per meritare di stare con lei. Questa storia trasmette dei sentimenti veri. Anche nei loro errori (es Abby che lascia passare mesi e mesi per orgoglio personale, facendo stare malissimo sia lei che Travis, quando potevano rimettersi insieme già al Ringraziamento. O Travis che continua a ubriacarsi e ha tutte le intenzioni di scoparsi Megan. Bleah.)

Il resto della storia è filling fino all'happy ending, bello in Beautiful disaster e stupendo in Walking disaster (ha fatto salire di una stellina il mio giudizio di quest'ultimo libro).

Il fatto che so ci saranno anche i libri dei fratelli Maddox nel prossimo futuro poi non può che rendermi felice.

E diciamocelo, Travis come agente dell'FBI? Ce lo vedo in pieno.

La mia scena preferita rimane in entrambi i libri quella in cui Abby batte a poker i vari Maddox e si rivela Lucky Thirteen.

Bad, bad Thomas, che nascondevi anche tu un grosso segreto tutto questo tempo, non vedo l'ora di leggere la tua storia.

Nota di merito anche per Shep e America, dei bei personaggi, ho apprezzato soprattutto la leatà di lei nei confronti di Abby, che la spinge addirittura a rompere con il ragazzo che ama, quando questo difende il desiderio del cugino di scoparsi Megan. Questa si che è amicizia!

Dark Wolf by Kate Douglas

Il branco mutaforma dei Chanku proprio mi mancava nelle mie conoscenze letterarie paranormal fantasy, anche se ci aggiungere in mezzo un bel " erotic" tra i due termini, visto il contenuto di scene di sesso molto esplicite. L'istinto e il bisogno dai Chanku di avere rapporti piuttosto intensi sono una delle caratteristiche di questa razza,  legato sis alla loro origine animale sia a causa dell'energia che riescono a creare in quei momenti, energia che alimenta i poteri magici di alcuni componenti del gruppo; diciamo che ogni occasione è buona e non si butta via niente. Dark Wolf è il primo libro, spin-off di un'altra serie della stessa autrice su i Chanku, chiamata Wolf Tales, che sono appunto dei mutaforma che prediligono le sembianze di lupo, ma in realtà potrebbero scegliere qualsiasi forma animale. Questa nuova serie è totalmente indipendente dalla prima, si possono ritrovare alcuni dei personaggi principali di quei racconti, ma in questo caso li hanno il ruolo di genitori dei nuovi protagonisti, quindi non ci sono problemi nell'iniziare la lettura solo da Dark Wolf, come ho fatto io.

Sebastian Xenakis è un mago che sta ancora esplorando le sue reali capacità e doti. Grazie al potere che riesce assorbire dagli elementi naturali intorno a lui,  può trasformarsi nelle sembianze di un lupo. Ma delle giovani donne cominciano a essere assassinate - prima vengono stuprate e poi uccise da un lupo. I sospetti ricadono sul gruppo di mutaforma dei Chanku, ma Sebastian comincia a chiedersi se può essere implicato negli omicidi.

Quando incontra Lily Cheval,  figlia del potente capo branco dei Chanku, si rende conto di essere disposto a tutto pur cancellare i sospetti su di lui e vincere il suo amore. Ma una presenza maligna segue Sebastian ovunque e ci sono misteri che ne Lily ne suo padre, il potente mago Anton Cheval, possono chiarire. Sebastian è il compagno perfetto per Lily o si rivelerà qualcuno che deve temere?

La trama del racconto è lineare e semplice e da subito si può intuire chi è la persona che sta dietro alla serie di omicidi.

Per me che non conoscevo l'autrice e i suoi Chanku è stato interessante l'intreccio tra il mondo della magia con la realtà dei mutaforma.

Non mi convince del tutto tutta questa gran disinibizione sessuale nel branco, rapporti M/F, M/M, F/F, MMFF. Insomma da questo punto di vista vengono esplorate tutte le combinazioni possibili. Sono rimasta un po' perplessa perchè comunque è presente nelle coppie il concetto del "The One", il compagno perfetto con cui condividere la propria vita, con cui si ha un legame unico e speciale. Diciamo che dopo che si trova questo mate non mi quadra il fatto di tutti questi rapporti anche con altri. Un po' molto figli dei fiori...

Molto carina la storia tra Alex e Annie, due personaggi presenti nel libro che hanno comunque una certa importanza nel racconto.

Sebastian e Lily sono una bella coppia, mi sono piaciuti molto nelle loro dinamiche, così come il padre Anton e la madre di Lily.

Un bel gruppo nell'insieme.

I missed in my literary skills about paranormal fantasy the Chanku shapeshifters and their pack, even if I had to add in the middle of the two terms the word "erotic" because of the content of very explicit sex scenes. The instinct and the need of Chanku to have pretty intense sex relationships are one of the features of this breed and it is linked to their animal origin due to the energy that they can create in those moments, the energy usefol for the magical powers of some members of the group, I can say that every occasion is good and you don't throw away nothing. Dark Wolf is the first book, a spin-off of another series of the same author on the Chanku, named Wolf Tales. The Chanku prefer their shapeshifting as the guise of Wolf, but actually they may choose any animal form. This new series is totally independent from the first, you can find some of the main characters in these stories, but in this case we find them as parents of the new characters , so there are no problems in starting the reading only by Dark Wolf, as I did.

Sebastian Xenakis is still coming into his power as a wizard. He can shapeshift by magical means and runs as a wolf using the power he draws from the elements. But young women are dying—raped by a human and then slaughtered by a wolf. Suspicion falls on the shapeshifting Chanku, but Sebastian wonders if he might somehow be guilty of the crimes. 

Then he meets Lily Cheval, the uncrowned princess of the powerful Chanku, and realizes he will do whatever it takes to clear his name and win her love. But evil walks where Sebastian goes, and there are mysteries neither Lily nor her father, the powerful wizard, Anton Cheval, cannot unravel. Is Sebastian the perfect mate for Lily, or is he instead, one she should fear?

The plot of the story is linear and simple and you can guess who is the person behind the killings.

For me that I did not know the author and her Chanku was interesting the interweaving of the magic world with the reality of shapeshifters.

I am not convinced at all with this whole great sexual disinhibition in the pack, M/F, M/M, F/F, MMFF. So from this point of view all the possible combinations are explored. I was a bit perplexed because there is the concept of "The One" for the couple, the perfect mate with whom to share your life, with whom you have a special and unique bond. Instead after they find their mate all of these relations with others don't change. A big hippy time.

I liked the story between Alex and Annie, two characters in the book who have a certain importance in the story.

Sebastian and Lily are a nice couple, I liked a lot in their dynamics, as well as her father Anton and the mother of Lily.

A great group.
